This is the second and final instalment in our series of garden blogs<\/a> looking at the spindles and balustrade options available for your decking project. Last week we talked about timber in a fair bit of detail, so this week we\u2019re looking at some of the alternatives we offer here at Savoy Timber \u2013 namely glass, metal and rope.<\/p>\n

Glass Balustrades For Decking<\/h2>\n

Glass balustrades<\/a> are a popular option for many of our customers, and it\u2019s not hard to see why. They\u2019re fantastic from both an aesthetic and practical point of view, and well suited in terms of style if you\u2019re going for a bit more of a modern look. Glass balustrades add a pleasant, personable and contemporary touch to your decking<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve got a smaller garden, glass balustrades for your decking are great for giving it a spacious, open feel. This is especially great if you intend to use it for barbecues or other social gatherings, as glass balustrades make the space feel welcoming and inviting. They give you the best of both worlds by providing a solid barrier between your decking and garden, but they blur that boundary by giving you a clearer view than perhaps other options (like our timber wood panelling) would provide. This means that you can allow some quality time on your decking while still able to keep a watchful eye on children or pets playing in the grass.<\/p>\n

Metal Decking Balustrades<\/h3>\n

In principle these are more similar to our wood spindles (which we covered in detail last week<\/a>), but have their own unique personality and minimalist sense of style that makes them quite distinct from the timber variants. They\u2019re perfect if you\u2019re looking to add more of a touch of class to your decking. A big draw for many of our customers is the low-maintenance and convenient nature of metal deck panels. While they\u2019ll still need an occasional bit of TLC, it\u2019ll involve not much more than a quick wipe down every so often. Like our timber spindles, metal decking panels have a high resistance to natural weather elements like rain and snow, and an equally strong resistance to casual knocks and bumps.<\/p>\n

You can choose from our linear metal deck panels, which many of our customers find attractive for their straight clean lines, or our wave metal deck panels. Like many of our products, it does what it says on the tin; these panels are moulded with a back-and-forth curvature running down their length, which gives your balustrade some fantastic visual depth. On the other hand, you can opt for our bow metal decking spindles. As opposed to the ululating curve of the wave panels, the bow spindles have a single, subtle curve that runs all the way down their length. It\u2019s not hard to see how they got their name!<\/p>\n

Get The Look With Decorative Rope<\/h3>\n

If nothing\u2019s taken your fancy so far, maybe the casual touch is more the one for you. Unlike the other options, which all have added safety functions, rope is purely decorative. Lots of people like it for its slightly nautical feel, as well as its ability to break down the barriers between your garden and decking area.
