Rather than arriving pre-painted or pre-lacquered, instead they are\u00a0pre-sanded but otherwise untreated, presenting a perfect blank canvas ready for you to stain, varnish or paint yourself. This gives you more freedom and flexibility to mould the door\u2019s finish and final appearance to your home\u2019s d\u00e9cor and personal tastes. It may well be an attractive option if you want your door in a specific colour shade that\u2019s not available in our range. For example, if you\u2019re redoing your living room or kitchen in a particular colour, an unfinished door is an ideal purchase as you can paint it yourself to match.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the favourite option of DIY enthusiasts, or those who have a very particular idea of what they want their home to look like. Pre-finished doors have been factory lacquered with up to 6 coats applied\u00a0&#8211; this\u00a0means that the consistency of the lacquer is absolute all the way through, and there are no untidy brush marks or tiny imperfections like you might see after applying it by hand.<\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s true that pre-finished doors cost slightly\u00a0more than unfinished doors, as we touched on above you will need to spend time and money staining or painting your door.
