It\u2019s a brand new year, and it seems that everyone\u2019s in the mood for something different. No surprises there – with so many of us having been staring at the same four walls for ages now, it seems natural that so many homeowners in the UK have big plans to do change things up for their interiors this year. And if you\u2019re on the lookout for inspiration when it comes to your kitchen, thankfully there\u2019s no shortage of kitchen trends that you can choose to give yourself a bit of a kickstart. Get your kitchen red-dy<\/h2>\n

Red might not be everyone\u2019s first choice of colour scheme for their kitchen, but then again, that\u2019s one of the reasons why it makes for quite such a dramatic and inspired choice!<\/p>\n

As one of the boldest colours, red creates an instant impression, and provides a very distinctive look for your kitchen. That\u2019s not to say it necessarily has to be a simple postbox red, of course – it\u2019s a colour that encompasses plenty of very specific shades, from a rich cherry red, to a deep ruby, to bright cerise. That gives you plenty of freedom for taking risks and experimenting with your creativity as find the one that you think best suits your kitchen, and the atmosphere you\u2019ve envisioned for it.<\/p>\n

Plus, of course, red has a number of natural associations for humans that makes it a perfect fit for kitchens – it\u2019s the colour of fire and passion, and of enduring love. What better choice for a room that\u2019s often described as \u2018the heart of the home\u2019?<\/p>\n

Tap into the trend for two-tone colours<\/h3>\n

It\u2019s often the simplest colour schemes that are the most effective. That\u2019s probably a big part of the reason that two-tone kitchens are once again seeing a surge in popularity. Now, we\u2019ve already recently covered here on the blog about how choosing new kitchen doors for your cabinetry can be a fantastic way to transform your kitchen on a budget<\/a><\/strong>. Together, the colour of your kitchen doors and worktops have a huge effect on the look, feel and atmosphere on your kitchen, so it\u2019s worth choosing them very carefully, and considering how they\u2019ll complement or contrast with each other.<\/p>\n

If you want a more luxurious look for your kitchen, you might want to start by considering some of the most popular deeper colours, like navy blue or forest green. It\u2019s a very understated look!<\/p>\n

Another interesting side-effect of the two-tone kitchens trend is the increasing penchant for dark surfaces. At the opposite end of the scale to the deeper, richer colours we\u2019ve talked about above, there\u2019s also a lot of demand for softer and more soothing colours. No wonder, really – it\u2019s been one heck of a year so far, so it\u2019s not surprising that more and more people want to transform their kitchens into places of bliss and relaxation. Pastel tones and calming shades of sweet lemon, dusky pink, soft grey and sage green are all colours du jour.<\/p>\n
