So, if you\u2019re trying to add Christmas charm on a budget, here are some of our top decorating tips that won\u2019t break the bank!<\/p>\n

Use lights to add classic Christmas charm<\/h2>\n

Lights are a festive staple, creating a cosy, welcoming glow in any room. Hopefully, you\u2019ll have some fairy lights leftover from the tree \u2013 if not, they\u2019re readily available at a lot of budget shops for just a couple of pounds. Drape your lights around cabinets and windows, coiling battery-powered models into a glass vase or bowl to create a striking centrepiece for your kitchen worktops. We\u2019re personally fans of warm white fairy lights on a slower setting, perfect for adding a calming, golden glow.<\/p>\n

Another budget-friendly lighting tip is to take glass jars leftover from things like jam and pasta sauce and place tea lights in them for a festive ambience. You can even take it one step further by covering the jars in glitter, or use acrylic paint or whiteboard markers to add simple stars and snowflakes to create a charming, inexpensive Christmas look.<\/p>\n

Forage greenery to create a fresh, vibrant look for free!<\/h2>\n

It might surprise you to learn that some of the best Christmas decorations are just beyond your front door \u2013 and they\u2019re free! There\u2019s no end of tutorials online teaching you how to make garlands and wreaths, with floral wire and wreath frames surprisingly affordable from popular shops and online retailers. We recommend enhancing your greenery projects with ribbon, leftover baubles and cinnamon sticks to create a magical look and a nostalgic, classically-Christmas smell. You can hang wreaths on kitchen doors and drape garlands over windows, doorways, and along your kitchen worktops.<\/p>\n

But that\u2019s not the only way you can use fresh greenery to transform your kitchen! We love the idea of cutting a few stems of glossy holly, preferably with vibrant red berries, and arranging them in a vase. The good news is, if you shop around, you can find them for a fraction of the price in bargain shops and online, and you can use them year after year. Classics like toy elves and ceramic ornaments are perfect for adding a fun, playful pop of colour to your kitchen. Christmas mugs are another hugely popular festive item you can find at bargain stores \u2013 and there\u2019s no need to keep them hidden away in the cupboard. We recommend making a hot chocolate station. It\u2019s something kids and guests will love, and immediately adds a cosy, welcoming feel to your kitchen. Drape a festive tea towel over a plain tray and arrange glass jars filled with hot chocolate and toppings like marshmallows, candy canes and sprinkles. You can even display treats like cookies and mince pies for extra effect.<\/p>\n
