The weather is once again getting brighter and warmer (about time too!), so it makes sense that many of us are thinking about ways to spend some quality time on our decking<\/a> in 2019. Once it\u2019s stained or oiled to perfection, what else do you put on it? Well, we\u2019ve got some suggestions there\u2026<\/p>\n

Sit back and relax with a sun lounger or two<\/h2>\n

We\u2019re not exactly the envy of Europe with our weather for most of the year, so it\u2019s understandable that lots of people think it\u2019s important for Brits to take advantage of the sunshine whenever we can get it! A lounger or two is just the ticket for that sort of thing, and it doesn\u2019t have to be a particularly expensive purchase either. And if this summer shapes up to be anything like the scorcher we had last year, you\u2019ll probably be getting a lot of use out of them!<\/p>\n

Chill out in the shade of a pergola<\/h2>\n

Of course, sitting back under the light of the blazing sun isn\u2019t everyone\u2019s idea of a good time. You might want a slightly more cool and comfortable way to relax on your decking – which is where a pergola can come in handy. Our traditional pergola kit is brilliant for giving you some much-needed shelter from the hot sun, especially if you can\u2019t find the sun cream. Under its spacious canopy, you can kick back with your favourite book, or even set up your garden table and furniture for some al fresco dining.<\/p>\n

Go green with some potted plants<\/h2>\n

When it comes to decking, you can get a lot of value out of potted plants. From a design aspect, they can be great for enhancing your space with a pop of colour. (Green is the go-to one, obviously, but you can choose particularly vibrant plants to give your decking a burst of red, purple, blue or orange\u2026 the only limit is your imagination!) If you\u2019re in the mood for a bit more of a challenge, you can even try cultivating some potted plants from scratch on your decking this spring. Some species will be more receptive to this plan than others, so it\u2019s worth doing a bit of research beforehand!<\/p>\n

Turn up the temperature with a hot tub or jacuzzi<\/h2>\n

This is a good one if you can manage it! Obviously, something as large and heavy as a jacuzzi is going to be better suited to some types of spaces more than others. The very first thing you have to do is check that your decking is able to take the weight. You may need to enlist professional help with this – if for whatever reason you can\u2019t be 100% sure, it\u2019s best not to risk it!<\/p>\n

If you are able to get one though, it can be a fantastic party piece, and a great way to spend some quality time with friends on your decking. Whether you want to share it with family (or, in some cases, pets) is up to you!<\/p>\n
