Our experienced fitters and joiners happily field questions from our customers every day, and over time we\u2019ve noticed that there are one or two that pop up time and time again. Of these, many of them revolve around the core differences between oak <a href=\"https:\/\/www.savoytimber.com\/internal-doors.html\">internal doors<\/a> and pine varieties, so this week on the blog we\u2019re listing some of the most crucial stuff to know. Oak trees grow quite slowly and require significant time and effort to harvest properly, so final products like our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.savoytimber.com\/internal-doors\/oak-doors.html\">oak internal doors<\/a> reflect that in their prices. However, you can also see this in their durability and longevity \u2013 once they\u2019re fitted, you can count on them to last a good long while.<\/p>\n<p>Compared to other wood varieties, oak is also generally darker, resulting in oak internal doors having deeper and richer hues and colour schemes. Oak doors are often stained in order to bring out these darker hues even further, making them exceptionally well suited if you\u2019re going for more of a rustic country look for your home. What\u2019s more, oak internal doors have a substantial grain, making their texture clear to the touch. It\u2019s also a notably stiff material, which makes it great for resisting shock and sudden impacts. (Anyone with a pet or small child in the house can probably see the benefits here!) Because pine grows at a faster rate than oak, pine internal doors are generally lower in price than oak internal doors \u2013 although it\u2019s worth remembering that there are lots of other factors that affect pricing, too! While the initial cost is slightly lower, pine doors aren\u2019t known to be as exceptionally long-lived as oak internal doors, so you may also need to take that into account. Having said that, they\u2019re far from flimsy.<\/p>\n<p>Many of our customers find that pine holds a lot of aesthetic value for their homes, with light, airy colours that range from a creamy white to a deeper yellowish. Due to the nature of the grain in pine internal doors, they\u2019re also smooth to the touch, and perfect for giving your home a cheerful, breezy sort of feel.<\/p>\n<p>Still can\u2019t choose between them?
